Advantan Ointment is used for external use. The active substance is methylprednisalone aceponate in an amount of 0.001 g per 1 g of the drug. The drug is available in the form of a cream, ointment and emulsion, has a white color with a slight yellowish tint. Advantan Ointment has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and glucocorticoid effects.

The active component is a non-halogenated steroid, has the ability to suppress allergic reactions and inflammatory processes on the skin. The effect of the drug leads to smoothing of the main symptoms (edema, erythema), and also reduces the effect of subjective sensations (irritation, pain, itching). The medicinal product has a minimal effect on the body as a whole, acting purposefully on the area of its application. With frequent use, there is no increase in plasma cortisol or adrenal gland dysfunction. Clinical studies using Advantan Ointment have not shown any abnormalities on the skin (atrophy, acne).

Methylprednisolone is absorbed in the upper layers of the dermis and epidermis. Metabolism occurs actively and leads to rapid biological activation in the skin. The level of absorption depends on the condition of the skin, on the basis of this drug, the form of the drug (gel, cream, ointment) is selected. The emulsion has the lowest absorption rate, so it is often used for the full treatment of the skin (sunburn). When the active substance enters the bloodstream, the hormone is instantly inactivated, interacting with glucuronic acid, excreted through the kidneys within 16 hours, and does not accumulate in the body.

The medicine is used for many skin inflammations, including eczema, neurodermatitis and dermatitis. The use of the drug for seborrhea and sunburn is also indicated.
Contraindications
The tool is contraindicated for use with hypersensitivity to one of its components. It should also be limited to use if there are processes associated with syphilis or tuberculosis at the site of application. The medicine should not be used for viral skin diseases (shingles, chickenpox). It is necessary to limit the use of cream in places of the skin with a reaction to previous vaccinations. The tool is not used to treat children under four months of age. During pregnancy and subsequent lactation after the birth of a child, it is necessary to weigh all possible risks, use the drug only in case of emergency. Do not use the product in the presence of a wound surface, a burn or a postoperative scar in the treatment area.
Side effects
In general, good tolerability of this drug was noted. In rare cases, local reactions may occur in the form of erythema, itching, burning, and a great rash. With prolonged use of the drug (more than 4 weeks) in an area of at least 10% of the entire skin, side effects such as skin atrophy, striae, acneform changes can be noted. In general, side effects are noted no more often than 0.01-0.1% of the total number of patients using this drug. If any side effects are detected, the use of the drug should be stopped immediately.
Application methods
The drug is used 1 time per day, applying it with a thin layer on the affected area of the skin. The duration of use of the product should not exceed a period of 12 weeks for adults and 4 weeks for children. Apply cream or ointment to dry, cleaned skin.
